🍵 Phina has been training the last 10 years in Pandaria after she was found, injured and confused, unable to speak and with few memories. She has traveled the countryside with her master and has a deep respect and understanding of the culture. If you are from or have been to Pandaria in the last 10 years, you may have bumped into her.🍵 Phina has an incredibly welcoming aura around her. While she may not speak, she doesn't seem daunted to try and interact with people.🍵 Phina can almost never deny anyone who needs help. Be it healing, crossing a street, cheering up, or protecting the defenseless she will always offer a hand.🍵 Phina is obsessed with tea and can be seen carrying a small cup on her belt. She smells of the fresh tea leaves she has stashed in an ornate pouch and is always excited to share and conduct proper tea ceremony.
Please note that Seraphina is missing most of her memories and will not remember anyone from her past in Silvermoon City🍵 Known by her full name of Lady Seraphina Spiderfang (previously Duskwail before joining her maternal family's house), she is supposedly dead after her exile, an ear taken back as evidence of her death. She is nearly unrecognizable given she is now ren'dorei and far more robust than she was previously, but there are those who may be able to see the once frail chestnut haired, rich peachy complexioned mage she used to be.🍵 For those who knew her, Phina was sweet and very quiet. Timid, but kind. Hailing from the callous, cold House Duskwail the elf's behavior was always in strange contrast to what her family was known for.🍵 Phina was never married, nor was her hand ever much for discussion given her diminutive stature and belief she may not handle having children well. She used to manage the books and ledgers of House Duskwail.🍵 Phina was a mage, but not a particularly skilled or talented one. She spent a minor amount of time in Dalaran in her youth to learn.🍵 Phina grew up in Silvermoon City, her family estate in present day Ghostlands. She spent most of her time with vassals of House Noctbriar, in particular a cousin house, the Spiderfangs.🍵 Phina knew most of the tailors and designers in Silvermoon as she liked to embroider and sew in her spare time.🍵 Phina was very devout to the Sunwell and visited often before her exile as her mother was once a priestess.🍵 Phina would have had very little court presence even living her entire adulthood in the city. She had no interest in politics and nor did she possess the heart for guile.🍵 Phina would make custom dresses for her closest friends to wear to events.🍵 There was hushed gossip about Phina's semi-annual absences from court. Upon observing the bite scars on her arms, it is quite obvious in hindsight that these belong to the hounds that House Duskwail is known for breeding and raising. Prior to becoming ren'dorei, Phina always wore very modest clothing from neck to toe, which would have covered any scars.🍵 For any denizens of the city who were not noble, Phina was kind and friendly to commoners. She did not go out of her way to befriend them, but she was known to give children flowers and candy regardless of their birth.
The Years in Quel'Thalas
Borne to a very comfortable vassal house in Silvermoon City, Seraphina was the youngest of 6 children and the only daughter. Her family prized strength and prowess, not the conniving type, but those who diligently protected and loyally served their lord. Tightlipped and silent, they're renowned for their own dark toned rangers who are exemplary hunters and foresters who work alongside their dark hounds to track targets. Unlike Farstriders, the Duskwail Rangers do not care much for nature itself, seeing animals and the world around them to be used as they deem fit.Not unlike her brother Kavask, she is small, not frail like him, but being of a more diminutive stature it made it difficult for her to accomplish the same athletic feats as her brothers. She did enjoy being outside and her initial training, but as she fell behind the gap in her size and age grew. Honing in on her affection towards animals and gentle nature, her family was quick to correct these weaknesses, pushing Seraphina far beyond her body's capabilities until it was deemed she was unfit to become a ranger.Instead, in her early 20s, Phina began her arcane tutoring. She never enjoyed wielding the arcane, but had an excuse to indulge in botanical pursuits and find time outside her estate grounds to mingle with other noble elves her age. On the outside, Seraphina was a demure and soft-spoken elf who would be begin vomiting words the moment anyone indulged in her passions. The young woman always eyed the Farstriders with quiet envy and respect, having been forbade by her house by pursuing such a path as it allowed commoners amidst their ranks.Over her centuries of adulthood, Seraphina would become a novice mage without much skill. She was capable of basic spell work, but she never had the attention or interest to become an evoker. Instead, she would help run the books for her family, a glorified accountant as she was good with numbers and predicting market trends. In her free time, spent away from home as often as she could manage it, she would sew and embroider.Any opportunity Phina had not to be home, she took. From the outside looking in, Seraphina was a picturesque young lady, always modestly dressed from neck to toe despite the more liberal attire of Thalassians. However, there would be times that friends and acquaintances would note weeks without seeing her. The bright ray of sunshine would return seemed a bit quieter and withdrawn than usual before slowly returning to the sweet high elf she was renowned for being.
Descent Into The Void
Phina was never enthralled in politics in the way that some close acquaintances were. Perhaps by the machination of these others who knew she was ill-suited for it. However, when one fled Silvermoon City in a bid to escape House Noctbriar, Seraphina knew that the Duskwail hounds would be sent in pursuit. Out of foolish loyalty to her cousin and inability to tolerate the misery she endured at home, she followed into exile with hopes of finally being useful. If even only to thwart the efforts of the fel-bred hounds with spells and wards she knew would cloak her friend.Even as warmhearted as Seraphina was, despite being well into adulthood, she was often naive. Shortly after her corruption by the void one of her brothers found her with strict rules of the edict to follow. It was time to prune Phina for she knew too much and had betrayed House Noctbriar by fleeing with an enemy.Kavask, the only other Duskwail child who had not become a ranger, knew his charge and failed. Standing over the shadow of his sister, tormented by the void's incessant whispering in her ears, he couldn't bring himself to kill the elf he'd tried so desperately to shelter from their family's cruelty. In this last bid to free her, Kavask fractured her memories and using felfire to scorch the inside of her throat and vocal chords, removing her ability to speak. To prove he had done as asked, he cut her right ear off and took it back to Silvermoon City as proof of her 'death'.Phina would wake up bleeding, alone, and unable to communicate. Uncertain of where or who she was, those incessant whispers the only thing to keep her company.
New Beginnings
Eventually, the elf's poor luck would begin turning. While wandering she encountered a small fold of traveling monks who invited her to join their fire, shared their food, and mended her injuries. Upon realizing that Phina had nowhere to go and she was struggling without the proper training to manage her void corruption, she was offered tutelage beneath a Mistweaver called Ignale.Seraphina had never been given the proper patience and time she needed. Left behind rather than given additional lessons and assistance that could have seen her into a good ranger. She was observant and patient with a sharp eye for detail. Beneath the guidance of her new teacher, Phina excelled. She found meditation to be a productive way to glean through the void's insidious hissing. Even without her memories, she knew she'd never felt as at peace as she did nurtured in the Pandaren martial arts. Allowed to cultivate her interests and enjoy nature as she always had, the small ren'dorei was an eager and excellent student taking every lesson and memorizing it before spending countless hours practicing until she perfected forms and virtues. Her memories did not come back. Not in order, but a few gleaned through that she knew her first name was Seraphina. The only other bits she did recall was the face of a woman: both as ren'dorei and as sin'dorei. Xal'irra. There were others. Family, she thinks, but trying to remember her past often brings pain even as she tries to meditate through it, barring the woman from making progress.
"You cannot escape the banshee's wail once you've heard it"
House Duskwail is an esteemed vassal house known for their loyal and strict adherence to the Noctbriar way. Dogs of the Noctbriars, they are often referred to beyond the use of their hounds for which they are known. Their influence is not widespread in politics and guile, but their unfaltering fealty that has closely intertwined them with their liege house.Patriarchal in structure, strength is valued as is robust ability to pursue ambition without hesitation or rest. Retinues of rangers have always been produced by House Duskwail, emblazoned by the screaming banshee heraldry that they oft accuse Sylvanus of stealing from them to brand upon the Forsaken. A Duskwail Ranger is identifiable by their fine blood red leathers with a dusken cloak of black trimmed in plum.Their estate is dilapidated and abandoned within the Ghostlands, though the Duskwails often return to hunt the undead and Nerubians for sport. What once stood was a magnificent mansion hemmed by the forest and with elaborate kennels for the breeding and raising of the hounds. The banner of House Duskwail possesses a field of ashen black, embroidered by mithril leaves around the tapestry’s hem. At the center is the metallic plum silhouette of a banshee’s bust screaming at a blood moon cast in the background. Coiling tendrils of mist frame the base of the banshee and swirl up towards the tapestry’s top.
Specialties
Expert Tracking: All Duskwails are trained extensively in forestry and tracking. Aided by the Duskwail hounds, they are exceptional at tracking and finding their marks. Observant and keen, the Duskwails pride themselves on never failing a hunt.Hound Breeding: The Duskwails breed an exceptional stock of dark hounds, the original line acquired from Gilnean allies some many centuries prior. Unnerving beasts always grimly dark in color and near feral to all but those who wear the Duskwail heraldry of the screaming banshee on a crescent moon. Their lineage is convoluted and other houses have failed to replicate it. Perhaps due to the Duskwails’ meddling with fel magic far before it was made legal following the Sunwell’s sundering. Since the acceptance, the Duskwail hounds have become more hellish in appearance.Disposal: Need something to disappear? Bodies to vanish? See it to the Duskwails and it shall never be seen again. Not a scrap or sinew of evidence.
